A Paso Robles Prank for Theme Day

This is Theme Day for members of the City Daily Photo blogging network. This month's theme is Ephemeral. Something ephemeral is temporary by nature. It isn't expected to last. Such was the case of the marque sign on this unoccupied old theater. The empty building has been bought and sold a few times,  but no one has yet transformed it into a new business. Someone added the colorful letters to the marque one night for the city to wake up to the next morning.

In my photo here, you only get part of the story of what the out-of-town owner declared was vandalism. The barricades to keep people out of the vacant building were also decorated with political slogans. You can read the full story and see the photo I was too late on the scene to get in this article from the Paso Robles Daily News. Slogan, posters, and and sign disappeared quickly. They were, after all, ephemeral.

See what ephemeral photos others posted from around the world here.

Here some ephemeral sights people have captured captured on Zazzle products. most designs are available on a multitude of products. Just click through to find them.

Just a Lazy Sunday and a Movie, The War Room

Sunday Sundown in Mid-September, © B. RadisavljevicThough it was still a bit hot and muggy Sunday, I was able to spend a couple of hours on some serious writing, see that we ate a simple but nutritious lunch, and get a couple of things crossed off my to-do list. After lunch we managed to get to the 4:15 showing of The War Room at the Park Cinemas Theater.

I'm really not a movie person. I'd rather read, but we have friends talking about the movie so we went. The hardest part of the movie theater experience for me is having to sit through the previews of movies I would never want to see. At least today the previews were compatible with the movie we went to see, but I still did not enjoy having violence in my face.

The movie itself shows how prayer can change situations that seem impossible, such as the failing marriage focused on in The War Room. I believe the message of The War Room is an important one as marriages and families keep crumbling in America. I hope those in troubled marriages will see that there is an alternative to divorce that can actually heal marriages and restore the relationships that have been hurt by arguing and even betrayal. There is a way out of the hopelessness some couples feel when their relationship has deteriorated. There is always hope. If the movie isn't playing near you, you can get it here.

When we got home, I opened the windows to catch the slightly cool breeze. I took the photo you see above of the sunset, and then I watered. It would be nice not to have to arrange my schedule around watering times.

How did you spend your Sunday?

A Whimsical Sculpture in San Luis Obsipo

Little Theater Sculpture in San Luis Obispo, ©B. Radisavljevic
Every now and then I have appointments that take me down the grade to San Luis Obispo. That gives me some photo opportunities I don't have in the North County. Often when I have to wait for a car to be repaired, I just walk around town to see what I can see.

On one occasion, I was walking downtown past the the San Luis Obispo Little Theater and I saw this fanciful sculpture beside it. So this is what I will share with you today. You can click to enlarge this photo.

I'd also like to show you a close-up of the base, with the artist information and more detail. It's amazing how many times I had been in San Luis Obispo and never noticed this.  In case the photo doesn't expand enough when you click it, it was a tribute to Bill Beeson created by Carol Paulsen and Stephen Plowman.

Are there any sculptures in your area you especially like to see?
